Our Library:
Built By the WPA,
the Lordsburg Hidalgo Library facility was built by the WPA, or Works Progress Administration 80 years ago.  Finished in 1937, it has housed the library ever since.

We are proud of our facility and collections and invite you to come spend time here.

One collection that may be of interest to visitors is housed in our Southwestern Book room.  With over 2,000 books of southwestern history, including local authors, histories and biographies, we can help find information on nearly any subject that relates to local families, events or periods of time.  Our historian, Rosie Marquez, is on duty every morning to help you find what you need.

Our children's librarian, Collista Jensen, is knowledgable about the books in her section and stands ready to help our young patrons find a book, game or movie every afternoon.  We are stocked to entertain, educate and inform our community's youth and love to have them visit our library.  In addition, Mrs. Jesnsen runs our after-school programs and is doing a terrific job of using STEAM to guider her programs.

Rita Morris is our circulation librarian.  She is a great resource to help our patrons find what they are looking for, whether it is reference material, fiction or how-to books, Rita will help you find it.  With 27 years of library experiece, Rita is a great assest to our library.

Whatever your information needs may be, come to the Lordsburg Hidalgo Library.  We will be happy to see you.

Throughout the library you will find art, historic books, local histories, current magazines, movies on dvd, public use computers, free WiFi, copy and fax capabilities and of course great books to read.

If we don't have the books you are looking for, speak up, we will get what you need.  We offer ILL (Inter Library Loan through the NM State Library) and a great electronic/audio book database to supplement our collection.

Don't know what to read?  Our staff knows the collection and can direct you to a good read in your favorite genre.

There are many reasons to come to the Lordsburg Hidalgo Public Library!
